Did you ever wish accessing corporate data were as easy as using a search engine? Today, we announce the launch of BusinessObjects Polestar, the first solution that brings together the simplicity and speed of search with the trust and analytical power of business intelligence to provide immediate answers. Through easy search and exploration, more information workers will be empowered to quickly find relevant information sprawled across their enterprise data landscape, extending the power and insight of business intelligence. Insight Community Micro-Challenge

The Insight community site is dedicated to those of us who want to use our passion for numbers to make a difference. We want to tap into the collective intelligence of business analysts and other smart people who want to work together to solve some really tough problems.

Our first project was the Zerofootprint platform, a tool that helps citizens measure and manage the impact their individual lives are having on the environment. As part of this project, we're launching three special initiatives at today's conference:

  1. All Insight conference attendees are encouraged to go to the Insight site and enter data on your travel to and from the conference (method of travel, number of miles, etc) - and we will pay to offset your carbon impact.
  2. We're holding a contest to estimate the carbon impact of all attendees traveling to and from the conference, by polling other attendees and calculating impact with the provided formulas. Whoever submits the closest answer wins an Apple iPhone.
  3. We want your help choosing the next challenge. Visit the Insight site to comment on and rank the challenges you want to see "sponsored" with cash prizes.
