INTEGRATING BI 2.0

Today, more than 400 developers and engineers gathered for the first day of the Developer Conference in Orlando, Florida to learn and discuss BI 2.0 from a developer's perspective.

What is BI 2.0 other than the latest in a list of 2.0 technologies? Not unlike Web 2.0, my opinion of BI 2.0 will probably be different from any other person you might ask. Consensus on Web 2.0 is hard to get, but there is still some consistency in the overall themes.

BI 2.0 is the next step in intelligent applications; it's about integrating intelligence into the applications where you live and spend most of your time.

Our goal at Business Objects is to provide a full stack of business intelligence applications that allow customers to turn to one trusted vendor for all their BI needs. But it's no longer good enough to just provide a product stack that covers all the BI check boxes. We need to take it to the next level. That next level is the ability to embed our stack in applications everywhere. BI should be pervasive - everywhere and anywhere at anytime.

BusinessObjects Live OfficeBusinessObjects Live Office provides the perfect example. Live Office allows those business users who live in Microsoft Office to get access to secure, refreshable and trusted data in the office documents where they spend the majority of their time.

At this year's Developer Conference, attendees are going to learn the steps that we're taking to help them develop intelligent applications like Live Office.

First steps include:

It will be an exciting few days as we learn from each other. We encourage you to check out our Diamond Community website and my blog for updates as the conference unfolds.
