Gordon Neighbourhood House Program: Creative Playtime Grant: $3,450 Impact: Support the costs of a qualified Early Childhood Education specialist to lead storytime, songs, and other literacy activities for 300 families with children ages 0-5. H.R. MacMillan Space Centre Program: Sharing Space Grant: $5,000 Impact: Train inner-city high school students to deliver Space and Renewable Energy units to elementary school children in their own communities. Junior Achievement of BC Program: Economics of Staying in School (ESIS) Grant: $3,750 Impact: Enable five inner-city secondary school classes to receive a one-day session in which students explore personal budgeting and career options. Kitsilano Neighbourhood House Program: After School Homework Clubs Grant: $3,000 Impact: Support two homework clubs where university students volunteer to provide free support for struggling students ages 9-16. North Shore Community Resources Society Program: Mother Goose & Man in the Moon Grant: $5,000 Impact: Fund the delivery of three 10-week early literacy programs for at-risk caregivers and their children ages 0-6. Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre Program: AquaVan Grant: $4,800 Impact: Enable the AquaVan to visit three inner-city schools in the Lower Mainland. Four hundred students in 15 classes will benefit from interactive classes designed to effect the conservation of aquatic life. Vancouver Public Library Foundation Program: Storybus Grant: $5,000 Impact: Cover operating costs for the first year of the Storybus, enabling librarians to deliver on-site, outreach programs in daycares and playschools locaetd in Vancouver's most challenged neighbourhoods. YWCA Program: Emma's Daycare Grant: $5,000 Impact: Establish an early literacy library at Emma's, an on-school-grounds daycare for children of at-risk teen mothers who are completing high school. |

| Boys & Girls Clubs of Anaheim Program: Power Hour Homework Assistance Program Grant: $5,000 Impact: Assist children at five sites with the completion of their school assigned homework and reinforce beneficial skills and behaviors, improving their chances for academic success. Children's Health Council Program: Qwizdom in the Classroom Grant: $5,000 Impact: Fund the purchase of five mathematics curriculum packages and projector mounts/installation to assist in teaching children with behavioral and developmental challenges and encouraging their focused participation. College Track Program: Academic Affairs/Academic Workshop Grant: $5,000 Impact: Provide academic tutoring and workshops designed to complement and strengthen high school students' learning in core academic subjects including math, science, and English. Estrella Family Services Program: Academic Success Program Grant: $5,000 Impact: Support the costs of a new preschool curriculum, materials for math and literacy, new preschool science workshops and the salaries for science facilitators and trainers. Larkin Street Youth Services Program: HIRE UP: Education Services for Homeless Youth Grant: $5,000 Impact: Help provide high school education, tutoring, GED preparation, computer training, and education counseling for homeless youth to prepare them for post-secondary education or vocational training. |

| Barwaqa Relief Organization (Ealing) Program: After School Club Grant: 3,000 GBP Impact: Support their after school program which aims to help children primarily with math and Engish homework, but also to adjust to life in a new country and the concept of school. Ealing Dyslexia Assocation (London) Program: Close the Gap Grant: 3,000 GBP Impact: Seed funding for a new project that provides a specialist for tutoring and a distinct method for learning basic reading and writing skills; will aid four dyslexic children for one full year. East African Community Support (London) Program: After School Club Grant: 3,000 GBP Impact: Support the program which provides refugee children with free education, learning, and homework support for math and English; program will expand to include science and computer literacy. North Ugandan Books Association (London) Program: Expansion of Reading Program into East Berkshire Grant: 3,000 GBP Impact: Seed funding for a new program to provide after school lessons to 30 children in subjects including science, mathematics, and English, and to expose them to the positive influence of role model students. Volunteer Reading Help (Ealing) Program: Volunteer Reading Help Grant: 3,000 GBP Impact: Provide funding to recruit four new Volunteer Reading Helpers to support 12 children in Ealing schools, and to train, place, and support those new volunteers. |

Foyer Socio-Educatif du College Henri Dunant de Colombes (Hauts de Seine) Program: Voyage Pedagogique en Angleterre Grant: €5,000 Impact: Support a school trip to England that will enable underprivileged students to practice verbal English in a real-life situation, attend organized activities, and practice written English in travel journals. La Maison des Jeunes et de la Culture Andre Philip (Torcy) Program: Sejour Decouverte Grant: €5,000 Impact: Enable an educational camping trip, where underserved children attend a "transplanted school" and have the opportunity to relate their school subjects to the outdoor environment. |
