Utilities For Using Crystal Reports with IBM Rational ClearQuest 7.1 And Previous Versions

IBM Rational ClearQuest version 7.1 offers a new, enhanced reporting interface to support SAP Crystal Reports. Customers using SAP Crystal Reports with Rational ClearQuest have access to interactive, visual reports for Rational data with support for on-report sorting and parameters. Portfolio managers, project managers and developers alike can open and interact with Crystal Reports and take advantage of interactivity, drilldowns, and visualizations. Rational ClearQuest customers also have greater flexibility when customizing reports and creating new reports.

SAP is offering three utilities to help customers upgrade to Rational ClearQuest 7.1. These utilities will simplify the upgrade and insure continuity when using existing Crystal Reports with the new reporting interface.

Additional SAP BusinessObjects solutions can be used with Rational ClearQuest and other Portfolio Management products to enable ad hoc query, dashboards, as well as scheduling and secure distribution of reports. SAP BusinessObjects solutions can enable developers, project managers, and IT executives to quickly access information, allowing them to better measure adherence to standards, improve collaboration, track change and quality, and manage priorities and resources.

Utilities for Existing Rational ClearQuest Customers

In ClearQuest Version 7.1, there are three utilities available to Rational customers-2 runtime utilities and 1 report migration utility:

Crystal Reports RDC Runtime Utility: Allows customers to continue to run Crystal Reports with the new reporting interface  in ClearQuest v7.1. RDC is a component-based technology used by Visual Basic developers to integrate reporting into Windows desktop and client-server applications.

Crystal Reports JRC Runtime Utility: Allows customers to continue to run Crystal Reports with the new reporting interface in ClearQuest v7.1. JRC is a 100% Java embedded reporting solution that enables developers to embed reporting functionality, such as report viewing and exporting, into their Java web applications.

Crystal Reports Migration Tool: Allows customers of ClearQuest versions prior to 7.1 to migrate existing reports to the enhanced reporting interface in ClearQuest v7.1. Customers can choose to run the migration utility for specific Crystal Reports or to batch-process all such reports. Customers can use Crystal Reports Server or BusinessObjects Enterprise with the migrated reports.

Note: Customers who want to use the enhanced reporting interface in ClearQuest 7.1 should download the JRC and Migration Utilities. Customers who prefer the traditional interface of earlier versions of ClearQuest should download the RDC and JRC utilities.
 
The JRC utility supports the ClearQuest Web client for SAP BusinessObjects reporting, while the RDC utility supports the ClearQuest Windows client.
